Natural UK’s drive and continuing commitment to carbon reduction

To add to the other two hybrid cars in our company fleet, Natural UK has just invested in two fully-electric Smart cars. These pure electric vehicles have no exhaust pipes and therefore produce no carbon dioxide emissions; they help to reduce air pollution considerably and make our towns and cities a better place to live in. We were impressed to learn that in tests run over a full 12 month period, just one electric car on the roads can save an average 1.5 million grams of CO2 – that’s the equivalent of around eight return flights from Cardiff to Edinburgh!

As these electric engines have no timing belts or oil filters – and no combustion chamber, gearbox or clutch, this drastically simplifies maintenance and running costs too. For an electric car, it is limited to replacing wearing parts like the tyres or brake pads, as well as consumable items like windscreen wiper fluid. As a result, our drive towards carbon net zero also has a positive financial contribution to our business.

As over half of all new vehicles on the road go into company fleets, it’s critical that we shift our emphasis to electric vehicles (EVs). Our commercial vehicle range are next for consideration…
